Forum maintenance and regular update
Having a message board community, a secret to your forum’s success is the active chitchat with the members. In lack of conversation and active threads and posts, your forum will rapidly die off and members will not revisit the forum and will not make any more posts or replies. You can’t control your forum all the time and answer to every post, but there are several actions you can perform as the administrator to put things on track again.
Hold a contest on a regular basis. We all like to win something or anything now and then! It is not necessarily to spend a lot of money; the prize can be smaller cash prizes, or magazine subscription or free premium membership for one year to your site, or any other gift for the lucky winner(s). Want to play in the major league? Find a trader to sponsor a gift or cash prize, in return for their contribution offer them free advertising place on your site for a predetermined period of time.
Update your icons. The identical old, unremarkable icons will definitely bring about the yawns. Ad some excitement by changing one set of icons with another. At Holidays, place Holiday themed icons on the forums.
Change your background or theme. Change the background of the forum according to the season or to the current Holidays! Put away the boring, uninteresting backgrounds and put some spicy, fresh color into your forum. Visitors and members will both like it a lot!
In any case, there are various methods to get your forum moving again. Do whatever it takes to ignite interest in your site. You can start special weekend threads or topics, or create new section with topics of great interest among the members of the forums. Always read and respond to the suggestions and feedbacks of the members. There could be valuable resources to listen and apply if they within the rules and guidelines of the forum.
